ABORIGINAL INTERPRETIVE CENTRE

Stuart Green from Big Spoon acted as mentor artist to Shane Pickett, a Noongar artist, when Shane was commissioned for a major artwork for the canopy of the Champion Lakes Aboriginal Interpretive Centre by Gresley Abas Architects and the Armadale Redevelopment Authority.

Shane previously worked primarily in two dimensions, for this work Stuart worked with Shane to develop an architectural and three dimensionally textured response of vast scope and in a permanent material.

When Shane sadly died the project was completed by Big Spoon who undertook design doc, fabrication and installation, with permission of Shane’s family.
